Administration at Bob Hope Primary School Assistant Principal: Mrs. Leslie Hobbs
Howell C. "Bud" Iles Howell C. "Bud" Iles was born on the Gulf Coast of Texas to a family of five brothers and sisters. After graduating from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, with a B.S. and M.S. degree, he began his career as a high school Biology and Chemistry teacher. After marrying his wife Judy, the Iles family grew to four with the addition of their two sons, Eric and Stephen who were born in the early 1970's. Mr. Iles joined DoDDs in 1981 with his first assignment at Ramstein Elementary School, Ramstein, Germany, as a counselor. His career as an administrator began in 1983 when he moved to Jever, Germany, where he presided as a small school's principal. Other assignments followed in Germany with administrative positions in Moers, Baumholder, and Kaiserslautern. Mr. Iles joined the DoDDs Pacific Region in 1997 as Principal of C.T. Joy Elementary School, Chinhae, Korea. He remained at this small Navy Base until he accepted his present position at Bob Hope Primary School in Okinawa, Japan. Although a native Texan, he claims Boulder, Colorado as his home where he spends most of his time during the summer. His wife Judy is a teacher with DoDDS, presently serving as a Literacy Facilitator at Amelia Eardhart Intermediate School. Our Vice Principal: Mrs. Leslie Hobbs
Mrs. Leslie Hobbs Ms. Hobbs, a native of Massachusetts began her DoDDS career in Giessen, Germany as a 6th grade teacher. After eight years in Europe, she transferred to Okinawa, Japan as a gifted education specialist for Bob Hope Primary School, Amelia Earhart Intermediate School and Makiminato elementary/middle school. Eventually Ms. Hobbs worked as classroom teacher and gifted education specialist at Stearley Heights Elementary School and lastly Zukeran Elementary School. Having been trained in staff development and curriculum, Ms. Hobbs was provided an opportunity to work as a staff developer and curriculum specialist for the DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam Director's Office. Targeted areas included gifted education, staff development, Advanced Placement, Teacher Mentors, Curriculum Implementation Facilitators and supporting leadership training. As assistant principal at Bob Hope Primary School, Ms. Hobbs works to promote the school’s vision and mission placing students at the center of learning supported by committed teachers, devoted parents and a supportive school community.
